This ‘Canadian Himbo’ and ‘Gen Z Witch’ Are the Cutest Couple on TikTok

Step aside, Heartstopper. This wholesome couple’s love story is everyone’s favorite new queer rom-com.

The couple, Kurt and Braden, prove that opposites really do attract. Kurt (aka @kurt_runs_machines on TikTok) caught the internet’s attention with a video where he realized his boyfriend’s spiritual tendencies, like an interest in astrology and a love for tarot.

“I think my boyfriend might be a witch,” he said, musing that Braden might turn him into a frog — but Kurt wouldn’t mind.

“I think I’ll roll with it. I mean, like … he’s really pretty,” he said, smiling and kicking his feet. “I’d like being a frog. Or a penguin!”

Where his boyfriend Braden is on the spiritual side, Kurt is a blue-collar heavy machine operator with a thick Canadian accent. The dynamic had everyone desperate for more details of their love life, so Kurt obliged with a boyfriend reveal.

Over a slideshow of pictures of Braden, Kurt beamed and fawned over how handsome he looked. “I think this is one of the cutest pictures he’s ever taken,” he said, smiling over a shot.

That boyfriend reveal racked up 1.5 million views on TikTok, and the comments couldn’t get enough.

“Why am I smilin and kickin MY FEET?” one commenter wondered.

“We need more vocally queer blue collar men,” wrote another.

“The moment you put the first photo up, YOUR SMILE,” another user noted. “Bruh got me sobbing. So happy you’ve found your person.”

Naturally, Kurt kept the relationship content coming. Next, he responded to a commenter who wrote they were “very invested in the himbo Canadian x Gen Z witch combo.”

“Our dynamic’s a fun one,” Kurt said. “I think one of my favorite things about it is, like, you know, I’m the big, strong, f*ckin’ manly man, logical, linear thinker, and he’s a free thinking, fun, little, cutesy, guy. And even as he’s the cutesy little guy, he’s still 6’1” and buff as sh*t.”

“He’s the most funny, creative, interesting, bright soul I’ve ever met in my life,” Kurt continued. “And I’m so fucking happy about it.”

In another video, Kurt shared the story of how he and Braden got together, and it’s a rollercoaster. Kurt fell first, and he fell hard: “I tell you, it was love at first sight. From the moment I saw him, I was like, ‘Oh my god, this is the most beautiful fucking person I’ve ever seen in my life,’” he said.

The two hung out as friends for two months before Kurt confessed his feelings — and Braden didn’t reciprocate.

“He was like, ‘Yeah, no, I don’t think I could. Like, I just don’t think you’re the person for me,”” Kurt said. “And it shattered my heart. Like, I was so upset.”

Kurt spent the next five months trying to get over Braden. One night, they went to a party together, and at the end, Braden popped the question: “He just looked at me and he was like, ‘Can I kiss you?’ And I went, ‘Yes, please,’” Kurt recalled.

But they weren’t officially together yet. That came a little later, just before Kurt was about to leave town for work.

“He was like, ‘Can we start dating? Will you date me?’ And I was like, ‘That’s the only thing I’ve ever wanted,’” Kurt said. “We’ve been together ever since and it’s been the best time of my life.”
