JD Vance has some explaining to do after this creepy photo

Vice president-elect JD Vance (R-OH) walking with Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) as Vance spent the day escorting Senators to meet with Attorney General-nominee former Florida congressman Matt Gaetz.

We’re getting closer to the terrifying world promised to us by the election, and while it’s certainly chilling and horrible to contemplate a second Trump term, there’s something even scarier waiting in the wings. A JD Vance vice presidency.

Does it make it better or worse that Vance is willing to humiliate himself over and over again just to communicate how psyched he is to serve evil in the White House? I’m not sure. What I do know is that his enthusiasm is even giving conservatives pause at this point. Consider the AI image the VP-elect recently shared on Thanksgiving.

So…what’s going on here? Obviously quite a lot! But let’s start with the facts. What’s happened here is that someone used a combination of AI and photoshop/Canva to take the famous Norman Rockwell Thanksgiving painting “Freedom From Want” (recently the subject of much discourse on TikTok) to create a terrifying image of Trump and Vance (as Mrs. Trump) serving up red America on a platter.

As with most AI images, the prevailing question is “why?” Who thought to do this? Why did they elect to spend their time this way? And perhaps most pressingly…are they okay? I think we know the answer to that last one.

But the most disturbing question of all is hidden in plain sight. Why did JD Vance choose to post this photo to his own X account? I don’t know, and I couldn’t tell you. The actions of someone like Vance are completely inscrutable to me at this point. It’s one thing to be so ego-mad and ambition driven that you end up siding with someone like Trump just to get into the White House. It’s completely another to look at an image like this and say…”yes, I’m thrilled with what this represents.”

The bad news is that we can look forward to seeing a lot more of this kind of slop in the coming years, and it’s going to be terrifying. But will anything be as terrifying as whatever happened with Trump’s hand here?

I’m gonna go ahead and assume not.
