We’ve all heard the terrifying prophesies surrounding Trump’s second Presidential term: in previous speeches, Trump cryptically stated that no one will have to vote again after he takes office. But what, exactly, does this mean? Far-right pundits and liberal commentators alike have tried to parse the confusing statement with little success. But if everyone’s most far-fetched fears are anything to go on, the implication is that he’ll somehow manage to destroy the Democratic process so thoroughly that we won’t have a President anymore: we’ll have something more akin to a monarch. Or a dictator.

At least, that’s what Trump’s most devoted followers would like to believe. Not only do they want to see Trump seize dictatorial power, they want to see that power passed down the family line.

But somehow in the midst of all this they’ve forgotten just how weird and creepy it is to be excited about the potential political future of a teen boy who may or may not have shown sociopathic tendencies as a child.
Whatever it is these people want—a monarchy, a fascist uprising, or maybe a return to good old-fashioned feudal law—I think we can all agree their desires are taking them to strange places. Places that feel reminiscent of Call Me By Your Name.
To be psyched for a Trump monarchy is one thing—to go to the trouble of proclaiming him our nation’s hemophilic Prince Regent is entirely another.
Even if Republicans think they’re in a good place right now, this weird Barron Trump obsession is giving us much evidence to the contrary.
Obsessing over a twink is a gay rite of passage. But obsessing over this particular twink? Disgusting, diabolical, bizarre, deeply unwell.
