A Gay Porn Star Is Not Backing Down After Using The N-Word

· Updated on August 30, 2018

On July 23rd, Brazilian gay porn star Bruno Bernal used the n-word in his Instagram story. According to a screenshot from Queerty, Bernal posted “Worse thing in life! Barbers that don’t fuck shup [sic] up talking with this n***a accent.”

Bernal’s followers quickly called him out for his blatant racism, to which he replied that they didn’t understand “the context.” He then doubled down by giving a response that feels like it came from a Bad Response Generator™.

“My first boyfriend was black. After I had another black ex-boyfriend, then I had sex with a few black guys and my current boyfriend is black. If I was racist, I don’t think it would be happing [sic] so frequently,” Bernal wrote on his Instagram story. “I like black culture and I don’t discriminate anyone by their race but if you are fucking ghetto and don’t even use properly a normal vocabulary because you think is cool talk like a black ghetto person that just came out of prison what you want me to say?”

Well there you have it; he’s not racist because he sleeps with black men — what a saint. On July 25th Bernal tweeted a screenshot of a direct message he got from a black fan. The fan showed support for Bernal’s use of the word and even said that he also only uses the word to describe black people he doesn’t like.

Racism in gay porn is not a new topic. At the end of 2017, gay porn star Hugh Hunter called out the GayVN Awards for not nominating one actor of color for “Best Actor,” and lumping all actors of color into the “Best Ethnic Scene” category. Hunter even turned down his own nomination over this issue. There was also backlash in 2016 when a new gay porn actor had multiple white supremacist tattoos.
