Imagine, you’re walking down the street and you have an epiphany: you’d love a makeover. But where do you go to get one? Well, that answer might just drive by you.
During Miami’s annual arts fair, Max’s LGBTQ+ programming arm, Human By Orientation, is bringing a fresh “beat” and slayworthy drag to queer and trans folks in the area with “The Art of Drag” Pop-Up Truck Tour. Created in partnership with Equality Florida, the state’s largest nonprofit LGBTQ+ advocacy organization, fans of both makeup and drag will get a chance to embed themselves in a weekend of programming consisting of free drag makeovers, drag brunches, performances, and plenty of giveaways – including Trixie Cosmetics samples.
“Max consistently honors and highlights queer artists throughout the year, showcasing a diverse array of LGBTQ+ content,” Jackie Gagne, Senior Vice President, Multicultural Marketing at Max and HBO said. “We are thrilled to celebrate Miami’s vibrant queer community, expanding the impact of drag and queer art as a powerful means of expression to connect and resonate with all members of the Miami community.”
That expression is more powerful than due to Florida’s current political climate. Since Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill in March, the vague legislation has since expanded from censoring the discussion of LGBTQ+ identities in schools to potentially moving its censorship into workplaces.

With many LGBTQ+ Floridians struggling to navigate the new legislation, “The Art of Drag” Pop-Up Truck Tour becomes a dazzling bright spot in a sea of political darkness.
Inspired by the Max and discovery+’s programming, Trixie Motel and We’re Here, The Pop-Up Truck Tour will stop by Miami’s South Beach and Arts District’s neighborhoods bringing queer joy to both. The truck will serve as a traveling art installation highlighting original artwork by artist Mithsuca Berry that celebrates the art of drag.
Not to mention, the weekend affair will feature a performance by We’re Here’s LaTrice Royale, ¼ of the show’s new drag crew consisting of fellow RuPaul’s Drag Race alums Priyanka, Sasha Velour, and Jaida Essence Hall.
