On Amazon’s hit The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Alex Borstein plays a tough lesbian bartender who is so much more than her sexual identity, which is part of the reason she just won an Emmy for the role. As Susie Myerson, Borstein is a hilarious confidante to Mrs. Midge Maisel (played by Rachel Brosnahan), and together, they take on Greenwich Village in 1958 after Midge launches a stand-up comedy career and leaves her husband, with Susie becoming her manager.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel had a strong showing at the Emmys, with four wins right out the gate. After Borstein won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy, creator Amy Sherman-Palladino accepted two of her own (Best Comedy Writer and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series), and Rachel Brosnahan won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
