Los Angeles-based indie pop trio Beginners is readying their new album,CREAM, for a summer release, but first, they’re offering up a taste with the video for their single “Let That Money Talk.”Inspired by the famous Jumbo’s Clown Room in Hollywood, the visuals were meant to queer the heteronormative cliche perspective of a strip club.
Produced by the all-women teamVerluxeunder the direction of Eva Dubovoy, “Let That Money Talk”stars queer Jumbo’s dancer Caroline Blaike.
“I wanted the video to not only pay homage to my story, but to also turn heteronormative notions of attraction on their head,” says Beginners singer,Samantha. “I wanted to expose an alternative narrative around desire and strip club culture that is rarely represented in film and television.”
