Black Mirror’s Queer Love Story Took Home Best Writing at the Emmys

· Updated on May 28, 2018

Of the many inclusive characters and storylines on TV this year, Black Mirror gave us the most heartfelt piece of writing.

In the “San Junipero” episode of the tech anthology, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Mackenzie Davis fall in love as Kelly and Yorkie. Their unique love story is probably one of the greatest of our time I’m not exaggerating.

Tonight’s Emmy Awards confirmed that. The love was strong for “San Junipero” at the awards show. Writer, Charlie Brooker took home the Emmy for Best Writing for a Limited Series, Movie or Dramatic Special. And later in the evening, it won Best TV Movie, against the likes of projects by Oprah Winfrey and Robert De Niro.

It was a beautiful and well-deserved love story for the ages.
