Charli XCX has a brilliant pitch for the Final Destination franchise

The Queen mother has spoken once again, this time with some advice for Hollywood. And we have to admit, it’s pretty darn good.

Ahead of her horror movie debut in the next Takashi Miike masterpiece, Charli XCX is currently doing her research with the Final Destination franchise. “It’s just about hot people getting killed,” she says on a recent TikTok, noting that this thin conceit accounts of the pleasure of the series.

“There’s no sort of moral backbone to the story,” XCX said on TikTok. “It’s just, they’re hot, they’re cursed, and they deserve to die.”

Well, yes! A fine premise, but Charli feels like she could take it further.

Noting the fact that Final Destination films do boffo at the box office no matter who stars in them, Charli puts forth an intriguing suggestion. “Shouldn’t there be an it girl version of this franchise?”

Say more!

“Like a Final Destination with Rachel Sennott, Alex Consani, Gabriette.”

Honestly, this is a brilliant idea and we don’t know why no one has thought of this before. Charli has clearly done her horror movie homework: she knows all about Final Girls and she has been taking notes!

As Charli moves into the horror sphere with roles both in front of and behind the camera, we can’t wait to see what kind of energy she brings to the genre. Hollywood, take note: often enough, the freshest ideas come from the people who exist outside of the industry.
