‘Drag Race’ Queen Bebe Zahara Benet Getting Racist Death Threats

· Updated on May 28, 2018

Can someone tell these racists to sashay away?

After *spoiler alert* Drag Race season 1 winner Bebe Zahara Benet eliminated season 9 queen Aja on Thursday’s Drag Race All Stars episode, the queen has been receiving racist death threats on social media from Aja’s fans.

In a series of snapshots captured by Gay Star News, fans have used the snake and rat emojis to describe the queen, while also using racist slurs and death threats against her.

“Fuck you rigga morris, hope you die n**** ass bitch,” one person wrote.

However, Aja would not stand for these displays of racism against her fellow queen.

However, Aja would not stand for these displays of racism against her fellow queen.

“MY ELIMINATION DOES NOT WARRANT HATE TOWARD ANYONE!!!!” Aja said. “MAY I REPEAT. IF YOU SUPPORT HATE AND RACISM THEN YOU DO NOT SUPPORT ME! IF I SEE IT – YOU WILL GET BLOCKED. that is not the T! calm that shit the fuck down.”

She added, “It’s a god damn show. a fucking show about mostly men in dresses. and in my case a beautiful woman from st tropez – i dont like seeing hate. its tacky and nobody deserves it.”

Aja and Benet are not the first queens to deal with or speak out against racism among the show’s fanbase. In an article earlier this month,Slate detailed the racism that many of the show’s queens of color have faced.

“Anytime a [black] queen is powerful, or shows something that people would love or fall in love with [when done by a white queen] or that could be this major powerhouse, they tear her down,” season two winner Tyra Sanchez once said of the fanbase.

Similarly, after Thorgy Thor’s elimination duringAll Stars season three, season nine queen Nina Bo’Nina Brown wrote on Instagram,“[I]’m glad she’s getting sympathy for the most part of her ‘paranoia’ because y’all let my black ass have it lol.”
