Next week, Bright Colors and Bold Patterns takes its last Off-Broadway bow. For its final week, writer and original star Drew Droege returns to the role of Gerry. The final performance will be broadcast live on BroadwayHD.
The one man show takes place on the weekend of Josh and Brennan’s beautiful Palm Springs wedding. Although the invitation politely asks to “please refrain from wearing bright colors and bold patterns,” their old friend, Gerry brings a drunken, drug-fueled riot to the celebration. The play asks the question, “In the struggle for equality, what do we really want? What do we lose? And is there any cocaine left?”
Directed by Michael Urie, the show came to New York for a three-week engagement last season. After much acclaim, it returned for a five-month run, including four extensions. Droege returned for the role at the beginning of the run, but it was recently taken over by Jeff Hiller.
Droege returns to Bright Colors and Bold Patterns, April 5-9. Following this run, he plans to take the production on a national tour. Find more info and buy tickets online.
