Joe Locke’s been hitting more and more red carpets lately, and his looks are all thanks to one person: his stylist, Holly White.
White works with several of Netflix’s it-boys, not just Locke. She’s also in charge of the wardrobes for Corey Mylchreest from Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story and Luke Newton from Bridgerton. But her relationship with Locke, she shared in a new interview with WWD, is special: she’s styled him since the very beginning of his career, when Locke was just 17 years old.
That means White has seen Locke through all three seasons of Heartstopper, his Broadway debut in Sweeney Todd, and his star turn in the Marvel universe with Agatha All Along. Such different projects (and at such a formative age) have meant her styling has had to evolve alongside Locke, a challenge she said she’s welcomed.
“Since he’s joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we’re really leaning into a darker, sexier and slightly grungier look,” White said.

That included his look for the Oscars earlier this month, a three-piece suit complete with a sequin vest that harkens back to the formal wear of the 19th-century.
“I wanted to find something that felt really memorable for him. We went a bit more formal than before,” White said of the look. “If I had shown him something sleeveless or a three-piece three years ago, he would’ve laughed at me, but my job is about building people’s confidence and getting them to a point where they feel like they want to start taking fashion risks.”

Locke seems like a lock for the long-awaited movie musical adaption, if comments from creator Steven Sater are any indication.
Locke also sang White’s praises in an interview with Esquire last year while promoting Agatha All Along. “I have the most amazing stylist, Holly White, and she is in charge of everything I wear,” Locke said. “She’s just amazing, and I’d be wearing jeans and a T-shirt all the time if it wasn’t for her.”
“I go into the studio almost every week at this point to find more looks,” he added. “What’s really great about working with the same stylist is that, you know, she gets to know my tastes and I get to work really collaboratively, which is amazing. And she’s so good at her job, and all of her team are so good at all of their jobs.”
Locke also spoke to his personal style these days, which aligns with White’s “darker, sexier, and slightly grungier” assessment: “I’m not in my color era at the moment. I’m very much in my dark era,” Locke said. “Agatha’s a very dark show, so.”
