Melania’s inauguration look is reminding the gays of something chilling

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump enter Emancipation Hall for a pass in review of troops during 2025 Presidential Inauguration events at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 20, 2025.

The day we dreaded has finally come and gone. That man is back in the White House, and he’s brought the army of gross weirdos he calls his family with him.

Barron looked predictably glum, Lara and Eric looked stupid, and Ivanka looked like something that would make Audrey Hepburn turn over in her grave. But the most chilling look by far was Melania’s. Her fashion choices felt ominously apt for a woman prepared to play Tamora Queen of the Goths in a revival of Titus Andronicus.

Maybe it’s because her husband just removed birthright citizenship for her and her son—maybe it’s because wide-brimmed hats are back in style—or maybe it’s Maybelline. Whatever it was, Melania’s look reminded everyone of one of the most iconic villains of our time.

That’s right: she’s calling to mind none other than Judge Doom, Christopher Lloyd’s menacing Robert Moses figure who, despite being a toon himself, is on a genocidal mission to send every toon hurtling into the dip in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

That’s not the only nonbinary icon she’s calling to mind. We’re also getting strong notes of Hamburgler and the specter you see at night when you’ve taken too much Benadryl.

She’s prepared for the gritty live-action remake of the McDonald’s extended universe.

Honestly, a fine look for someone who’s just had their citizenship taken away by their own husband.

There’s only one question on our minds now: are porkpie hats about to make a comeback? Should we all start dressing like SSENSE Buster Keaton from now on? I guess it can’t hurt.
