In a gut-wrenching turn of events, Harriet the Spy and “Gossip Girl” actress Michelle Trachtenberg has passed away at 39. We’ll never forget the charm and talent she brought to so many of the roles that defined our childhood.
Everyone is feeling the heartbreak, but queer people are taking it especially hard. Trachtenberg’s career gave us so many messy, divatastic heroines to root for and against, and we’ll never forget them.
“You can tell Jesus that the b*tch is back” will be forever etch-a-sketched into our brains.
Whether you knew her as Harriet, Georgina, Dawn, or Nona F. Mecklenberg, you loved her.

“Allergic to not serving” hardly covers it!
What is there to say except that everything is sad and empty and horrible. We’ll leave you with this iconic clip of Trachtenberg driving through the Holland Tunnel with James Van Der Beek singing along to Nicki Minaj’s “Shakin’ It For Daddy.” Because what’s more life-affirming than that? Nothing.
