Just three months ago, Lara Raj, one of six members of hot new girl group Katseye, came out as queer — or, in her words, “half fruitcake.” Now, another member of the group has followed suit and casually come out to their fans. Happy Pride!
While livestreaming on Weverse, Katseye member Megan Skiendiel came out as bisexual with a little encouragement from Raj. When Skiendel wished Raj a happy Pride, Raj said, “Thank you, Megan! You too,” prompting laughs from both girls.
A moment later, Raj said, “Just do it,” then counted Skiendiel down from three.
“You guys, I’m coming out. I’m bisexual,” Skiendel said, and both her and Raj erupted in cheers as they jumped up and down.
Culture, unfiltered
Our newsletter will bring you the pulse of queer culture, from the tastemakers to the groundbreakers.
Naturally, fans were over the moon to hear that Skiendel was part of the queer community. “In the world where homophobia is on the rise seeing two queer girls happy and [excited] about their queerness is genuinely heartwarming,” wrote one fan in a viral post. “I wish them all the best.”
RelatedThe ‘Drag Race’ alumna’s latest collab proves she’s a force to be reckoned with in the fashion industry.Rapp said she wants to be with her girlfriend Bird “forever and ever” — and for the record, their relationship is staying closed.
Fans couldn’t help but take note of the moments just before and after Skiendiel’s coming out, either. Just before, she and Raj were dancing together, with Skiendel twerking on Raj.
And just after she came out, Skiendiel shared another new fact about herself: she has psoriasis. When Raj told the livestream’s viewers to say they love bisexuals, Skiendiel added, “We love bisexuals, and while I’m at it, let me also raise awareness about psoriasis. I have psoriasis.”
Skiendiel even joked about the many facets of her identity, which also include having dyslexia. When Raj pointed out that Skiendel was both dyslexic and bisexual, Skiendiel replied in the third person: “Pick a struggle, Megan.”
Fans joined in on both the jokes and the celebration. The eyekons love every part of Megan, from her queerness to her dyslexia to, yes, her psoriasis. Katseye is shaping up to be one of the queerest girl groups of all time, and we can’t wait to see what the group will do next.
