Chappell Roan has proven once again that she’s your favorite artist’s favorite artist, this time with a shout-out from one of the internet’s biggest crushes, Ross Lynch.
In a video posted to his Instagram story, Lynch was asked what music he’d been listening to. “I was listening to Chappell Roan,” he replied. “She’s so good, bro. I’m such a fan.”
At first, it seems like the perfect crossover for fans of both Lynch and Roan. The only problem? Lynch completely butchered the pronunciation. Roan’s full name is pronounced “Chapel,” like the church, and “Rone,” like the horse. Instead, Lynch said “Chapelle,” as in Dave Chapelle, and “Row-in,” as in paddling with an oar.
Culture, unfiltered

If you’re still confused, you can hear Roan herself explain the pronunciation in this video from a concert.
Naturally, Roan’s fandom was appalled at Lynch’s mistake, but others were happy to see that he was a fan in the first place (and that they weren’t the only ones who took a while to get the pronunciation down).
NO BECAUSE THATS ALSO HOW I PRONOUNCED IT THE FIRST TIME

I won't even lie, this is what I was calling her at first

All ended happily, though, with Lynch posting another video shortly after the first, this time nailing Roan’s name. “Okay, I get it. It’s Chappell,” he said, clearly having gotten a flood of corrections from fans. “I get it.”
Now, all that’s left is for the two to formally collab. From his iconic music video and concert cameos with Troye Sivan, to now making references to Chappell Roan, Lynch is collecting queer pop stars like Infinity Stones.
