We’re approaching the midpoint of fall, but nobody told Jonathan Bailey that. The hearthrob star is keeping short shorts season alive in his recent press tour, and we gays are not listening to a damn word he’s saying about his new film.

On Sunday, Wicked—the two part film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical—had its Australian premiere, and the cast has been down under (where it is currently spring) busily promoting the movie. Bailey, who plays love interest Fiyero in the film, attended a photo call with fellow cast members Cynthia Erivo and Arianna Grande, but his shorts emerged as the true star.

Short shorts for men have been having a moment throughout the year. Although straight men seem to think it’s a new trend invented by Paul Mescal, gay men have long been pioneers of the exposed thigh. Bailey himself came ready and willing to demonstrate his expertise on the subject, and now we’re all taking notes.

Throughout the Wicked press tour, Bailey has been doing the Lord’s work steadily supplying the internet with thirst content. Last month, he revealed that, through a series of comic mishaps, he ended up with nothing to wear but his Fiyero leather boots, and he took a picture to commemorate the occasion. “There’s an amazing photo—that nobody’s ever gonna see—of me in nothing but my boots.”

The man practically challenged the legion of gay hackers to even try getting into his phone.

And elsewhere during his Australian tour, Bailey identified as a “young daddy,” being so kind as to give co-star Jeff Goldblum an explanation of gay slang.

While Australia gets first dibs on Fiyero, the rest of us are just going to have to wait until Bailey’s thirsty media tour makes its way across the pond. The first part of Wicked premieres in the US on November 22.
