From SoundCloud to Grammy Awards

At 14 years old, Kaytranada started making music and quickly gained recognition for his remixes of popular songs on SoundCloud. His unique sound is influenced by a diverse range of musical styles, including Afro-House, Justice, modern African music, and French electronic music.

In an interview with Red Bull Music Academy, he stated that he’s constantly seeking new sounds and styles to incorporate into his music.

He then began producing his tracks, and in 2016, released his debut album, “99.9%,” which received critical acclaim and earned him the Polaris Music Prize, awarded to the best Canadian album of the year. His sophomore album, “Bubba,” released in 2019, features collaborations with Pharrell Williams, Kali Uchis, and Tinashe. The album won him a Grammy for Best Dance Recording for the single “10%,” as well as Best Dance/Electronic Album for Bubba.

Earlier this year, Kaytranada picked up a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Recording for “Intimidated” featuring H.E.R. He’s also nominated for two Juno awards. The first is for Rap Single of the Year for “Twin Flame” (with Anderson .Paak), as well as a nomination for Producer of the Year.

He’s going on tour starting in April of 2023, with shows at Coachella and several shows with The Weeknd and Mike Dean up until August.
