Back in November, actor Lily-Rose Depp broke the gay internet when she referred to rapper 070 Shake as her “boyfriend” in an Instagram story. Now, an interview clip proves that the term is more than just a one-off for the sapphic celebrity couple.
While speaking to MTV UK about her new movie Nosferatu, Depp was asked about a trait she might have in common with her character Ellen.
“Ellen is a lover girl, and I love that she gives Thomas a little locket with her hair in,” began the interviewer. “Is there anything that people did back then, like a romantic gesture, that you’re like, ‘We need to bring that back! I want to see more of that’?”
“I think that’s cute, honestly. I have a locket of my boyfriend’s hair, kind of like in the movie,” Depp replied. “I like lockets. I think they’re very romantic.”

Just like the first time, some (presumably straight) folks on the internet met Depp’s comment with confusion. One TikTok commenter attempted to clarify things, writing, “Guys lily is dating 070 shake (a girl).”
To that, the MTV UK account replied, “As Lily said boyfriend, we’re respecting her terms 💛.”

Others connected the moment to her current star turn in Nosferatu, which is being hailed as one of the year’s best performances, thanks in no small part to Depp’s willingness to get weird.
