This iconic pop collab could be on the horizon

Chappell Roan’s Call Her Daddy interview brought no shortage of revelations: her relationship status (six months in and “very in love”), her go-to song for belting in the shower (“Break Free” by Ariana Grande), and her dream artist to collaborate with. It’s that last answer

When host Alex Cooper posed the question, Roan was quick to reply, saying, “SZA.” Cooper replied with what we were all thinking: “F*ck, that’d be good.”

Now, Roan’s dream scenario is on the way to becoming a reality. SZA herself saw Roan’s answer and is just as excited at the possibility of a collab. On her Instagram story, SZA reposted the clip of Roan naming her as a dream collaborator, writing, “actually didn’t believe this quote when I saw it written til I saw it come out her mouth jus now CAUSE DEAD ASS SAME 😭.”

“✨pls we must 🥹✨✨,” she added.

So, Roan wants it to happen. SZA wants it to happen. The song would be a near-guaranteed hit. What is the music industry waiting for!?

Fans are equally hyped at the prospect of a collab between the two music icons. Beyond urging the two to get into the studio immediately, the internet pointed out Roan and SZA’s shared background: both are originally from Missouri, SZA from St. Louis and Roan from Willard.

Others highlighted that SZA has been singing Roan’s praises since her rise to fame, previously calling Roan “incredible” and saying that “she makes me wanna keep making new music n art forever.” Now, it’s confirmed that the artist crush goes both ways — and with any luck, we’ll see its product in collab form sooner than later. Could a SZA feature be in store for Roan’s sophomore album?
