Actress Lux Pascal is set to make her return to acting since coming out as trans in Miss Carbón. The trailer for the drama film dropped last Thursday.

Directed by Augustina Marci, Miss Carbón tells the true story of Carla Antonella Rodríguez, a transgender woman from Argentina who, after transitioning, overcomes discrimination in her workplace as a coal miner in a conservative town. In doing so, Rodríguez rebukes the town’s sexist belief that women workers will cause the mines to collapse.

Her story became one of defying gender barriers and working towards creating more opportunities for women in the workplace within her country.

Considering how divided modern feminism has become on trans rights stories like Carla’s are important in reminding TERFs that the existence of trans women doesn’t take away from women’s rights: trans rights are women’s rights.

In the captivating trailer, Lux stars in the film as Carlita, a fictionalized version of Carla on a mission to live as her true self and spark a social revolution.

In a statement translated by PinkNews, director Marci stated: “The courage shown by Carlita to fulfil her dream of being a miner and also a woman is something that pierced my soul from the day I read the script for the first time. With her strength and spirit, she is a prime example of what dreaming can achieve, and that there is still a lot of ground to overcome as women and trans women. But she, in that sense, brings hope.”

Miss Carbón is set to release in Spanish theaters on June 13th.

Along with the new trailer, the production company shared a new film poster. I must say, Lux looks absolutely beautiful in this shoot it is honestly lovely and as a trans woman it makes me exceptionally joyous to see Lux making her return after discovering her true self.

Before coming out as trans in 2021, she was known for her roles in Narcos and La Jauría. This film continues her trend as a rising star and powerful voice for trans visibility.

Lux Pascal is also the younger sister of beloved actor Pedro Pascal, who has been very vocal about his support of trans rights. His pride in and love of his sister makes his mission to protect the dolls a personal one.

Lux has stated that her brother has been a very important part of her transition journey, in helping her embrace who she is publicly.

“The thing is that I’ve always known that he is a superstar,” she told The Hollywood Reporter in April. “What makes [Pedro] so fabulous is that he wears all of his humanity on his sleeve, and he doesn’t hide who he is. And I think that’s refreshing, because usually we move around the world hiding who we are. That’s the main lesson I’ve gotten from him: there’s no reason for me to hide who I am, right? And I think people are seeing that.”
