Kylie Minogue Announces Intimate Performance at Berlin Gay Sex Club

Kylie Minogue has long solidified her spot as a gay pop icon with hits like “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” and “Spinning Around.” Aside from creating epic hits to serenade gay club dance floors for generations to come, she’s also inspired multiple drag queen performances and has headlined numerous Pride festivals around the world.

But with her latest move, she’s truly out-gayed herself.

As part of her upcoming Golden tour, she’s making five stops around Europe for some very intimate performances. From London to Manchester to Barcelona to Paris, her final stop on the tour will be Berlin.

Where, you might ask? None other than Berghain’s Panorama Bar.

If you’re not familiar with the German nightlife scene, Berghain is highly regarded as one of the world’s best and most exclusive techno clubs. It’s also widely known for its bondage-clad dancers, underground dark rooms, and its sex and drug-fueled festivities.

No wonder it’s one of Claire Danes’ favorite spots.

Of Minogue’s very gay career, this might be they gayest thing she’s done. It’s reminiscent of the early days of Bette Midler’s career, performing in New York bathhouses. While the term “gay icon” gets thrown around to the likes of any bubblegum pop princess or fictional horror movie monster these days, Minogue reminds us what it really means.

However, techno purists and regulars of the club are not happy about this stop on her tour. It’s very similar to the reactions expressed toward Lady Gaga’s record release party in 2013 at the same venue.

Although they may not represent techno in its purest form, they’re still gay icons and legends that would be worthy of any stage.

While this performance is one for the books, good luck getting past the doorman. Sven Marquardt has been known for his strict door policies that has denied entry to the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal and Florence Welch.
