It’s the first time the trans actress has served as a beauty ambassador.
How would you like to be offered a job while on the Emmy’s red carpet? Well that’s what happened to Laverne Cox Sunday. Chatting with Anthony Anderson, the actor and lead of ABC’s Black-ish, Cox was offered a slot on the Emmy nominated show. “I love the show so much,” she said of the offer, promising that she would be on set when asked. But Cox had something more altruistic to discuss.
While on air, Cox brought attention to her nails. The color was courtesy of an Orly Beauty collaboration that Cox debuted at the event. Spanning six shades the metallic, limited edition range is titled “Celebrate Yourself” and represents Cox’s first time ever as a beauty ambassador.
“It’s about loving and celebrating yourself,” Cox said. The colors she was wearing on the carpet, named “Shine and “Androgynie” were actually inspired by her custom Naeem Khan dress. Other shades include “Halo,” “Party in the Hills” and “Mirrorball.”
The cruelty-free, vegan lacquers come as a set of six with an all-in-one base coat and topcoat for $49. According to Cox, a portion of the proceeds go to those affected by hurricanes Irma and Harvey.
“I’m so incredibly blessed,” Cox said of why she decided to give back. “So to whom much is given, much is required.”
