Little-Known Newcomer Barbra Streisand In Talks to Star in Ryan Murphy’s New Musical Series

· Updated on May 28, 2018

If there’s one thing Ryan Murphy loves to do with his TV shows, it’s show off brand-new talent to the masses. In the past, he’s cast under-heralded actresses like Kathy Bates, Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon in some of his biggest roles. That trend may continue as ingenue Barbra Streisand is in talks to star in The Politician, a brand new musical comedy starring Tony winner Ben Platt, Deadline reports.

If Streisand does take the role, she’ll also direct some episodes and get a producer credit. Streisand remains the only woman to win a best director award at the Golden Globes. Too bad she’s not more of a household name, ya know?

According to Deadline, Netflix’s acquisition of the show is the biggest TV package sale of the year. The Politician is a one-hour comedy full of social commentary that will apparently revolve around Platt’s character, a wealthy politician who gets involved in different political races.

Anyway, here’s a favorite number from bubbling-under actress Streisand.
