Monica Lewinsky is an activist, TV personality, and fashion designer — now, the multi-hyphenate might be able to add “acclaimed vocalist” to her repertoire. The former White House intern spent her birthday at New York City’s Club Cumming — Alan Cumming’s gay bar — and performed some late-night karaoke.
Audience member Alexander Kacala filmed Lewinsky singing a rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” with piano accompaniment. The crowd sang along with her, and then serenaded her with a gleeful “happy birthday” afterward.
Apparently, the 45-year-old is a long-time friend of Alan Cumming. In a 2014 episode of Watch What Happens Live, the actor said of Lewinsky: “She is really one of the kindest, most loyal, loving, tender, funny girls I’ve known,” adding, “I think she’s really one of my best friends. She’s been at my wedding, she knows my family. She’s lovely.”
Monica tweeted a video of the audience singing “happy birthday,” writing, “birthday singing @clubcumming! Lucky girl!”
