Rachel McAdams and Rachel Weisz Get Intimate in ‘Disobedience’ Clip

· Updated on May 29, 2018

Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams are making even the gay boys blush in their latest film, Disobedience. It has all the queer sexual and emotional gusto that Call Me by Your Name gave us, but for a female audience.

From cowriter/director Sebastián Lelio (A Fantastic Woman), the film follows photographer, Ronit (Weisz) as she returns home after the death of her father, a rabbi in a very religious community. As she reacquaints herself with the people that once turned their backs on her, an intimate relationship blossoms with her childhood friend, Esti (McAdams). The sexual awakening drives a wedge between Esti and her husband, Dovid (Alessandro Nivola), another childhood friend and the protégé of Ronit’s father.

It’s a steamy film that blurs the lines between sexuality and spirituality. Lelio beautifully depicts a sense of young love and reinvention with the help of some great performances from Weisz and McAdams. The film vividly explores their relationship, both sexually and emotionally.

In a new clip, we get a glimpse of that sensual connection as it blossoms between the two women. After a series of negative experiences with her family, Ronit considers returning home to New York. But in a moment of truth, Esti reveals her true emotions, convincing Ronit to stay.

Disobedience premieres Friday, April 27. Watch Rachel McAdams and Rachel Weisz in the clip below:
