Report: Lana Del Rey’s ‘Cola’ Had Direct Reference to Harvey Weinstein

· Updated on May 28, 2018

One of Lana Del Rey’s most beloved songs may be about movie producer Harvey Weinstein, according to a report from Page Six.

Sources told the gossip page that Del Rey’s song “Cola,” from the 2012 EP Paradise, is actually about the movie executive, who has been accused of sexual assault and harassment by several women in the past weeks.

According to Page Six, the original lyrics of the song went, “Harvey’s in the sky with diamonds and he’s making me crazy. All he wants to do is party with his pretty baby.”

The song, which also says Del Rey has “a taste for men who are older,” was eventually changed after Weinstein found out.

According to Six, Weinstein “went bananas” when he heard his first name and demanded Del Rey change the lyric, which now says, “Ah he’s in the sky with diamonds and he’s making me crazy.”

According to the magazine, the song lyrics were ironic. Del Rey had a boyfriend at the time and she was not interested in Weinstein.
