· Updated on May 28, 2018

The upcoming awards shows are under a microscope after the #TimesUp movement that took over the Golden Globes, which is exactly why the Screen Actor Guild Awards’ roster of presenters makes a powerful statement.

Instead of continuing their tradition of having male and female pairs to present awards, the SAG executive producer, Kathy Connell, announced the first batch of an all-female lineup of presenters.

All 13 acting awards and both stunt categories will be presented by women only, which includeHalle Berry, Dakota Fanning, Lupita Nyong’o, Emma Stone, and Kelly Marie Tran are the first batch of presenters. Kristen Bell will also serve as host for the evening.

This move is a conscious one to the organization as Hollywood continues to grapple a spotlight on thesexual assault climate that has been recently made visible.

“Beginning with the Women’s March in January, it’s been the year of the woman,” Connell told The Hollywood Reporter in December when the nominations were announced. “This is a unifying salute to women who have been very brave and speaking up.”

“How many times has a woman walked into a room of predominantly men?” she continued.”We thought, maybe for one night, it’ll be more than 50/50.”
