Spice Girls Reuniting for Animated Superhero Movie

· Updated on May 28, 2018

I’m sorry Victoria Beckham, but you will forever be Posh Spice in the eyes of anyone born before 1997. Although Posh has once again squashed our hopes of a Spice Girls reunion tour, it appears that the now Spice Women are reuniting after all.

According to Variety, an animated film is being shopped to potential producers. It would have all of the group reuniting to voice characters based on their likeness for a superhero-themed film, sporting (no pun intended) their classic “girl power” message. Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm, Geri Halliwell, and Beckham will each have “girl powers” based on their Spice personalities.

Rumors of a reunion recently surfaced when all five ladies reunited for an Instagram selfie. Unconfirmed sources told The Sun that they were reuniting with manager, Simon Fuller. But Posh ruined those hopes when she spoke with Vogue UK shortly after, denying rumors of a tour. But perhaps the animated film was the reunion idea that won her over.

It’s scary (still no pun intended) to think that Spice World premiered 20 years ago. The blockbuster hit comedy about the girl group brought their music to the world, making them icons for generations to come. It was a favorite of babies (ok, a little pun intended) and adults alike.

You might recall a filmmaker in the fictional account of their lives pitching the idea of Spice Force Five about five crime-fighting female operatives. Let’s just hope the animated film gives Posh a slightly more feminist power than being sexy.
