Hungry? Thirsty?

The internet figured out the newest trend in pop music

Hungry? Thirsty? Maybe you should add these songs to your diet.

As country icon Linda Martell said, “Genre are a funny little concept. Yes, they are.” Each decade, music evolves and artists, seasoned and new, continue to shift the boundaries between each genre. And as genres change, so do music trends.

So it comes as no surprise that popular songs are starting to have this one thing in common. X user @ThiccNThriving shared a photo that shows that today’s most popular tunes are all about meals and beverages. Their viral post is captioned, “Friend: “Wow, you look great! What are you eating?” and shows a collage photo featuring song art from Sabrina Carpenter, Tyla, Billie Eilish, and Beyoncé.

All four artists have hits on their hands that will jump start your cravings. Honestly, who says that “Espresso,” “Spaghetti,” and “Water” can’t all be for “Lunch”? And while these four singers have mealtime-inspired songs and they’re not the only ones.

We celebrated Rihanna’s “Birthday Cake,” Lana Del Rey gave us “Cola,” and BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez made sure we had a sweet treat with “Ice Cream.” So, artists have been giving us balanced meals with their songs for a while now, but in 2024, it seems that all these songs want us to do is eat and drink. And honestly, the Internet isn’t complaining.

Some are calling this trend a “balanced diet” of good music.

Others were already consuming these pop confections and they seem to be just fine.

Some folks wanted to add more the menu. Perhaps a post-meal “Red Wine Supernova” a la Chappell Roan.

And once the musical meal is done, well, you’ll probably be in this state.

We’ll see what music trends 2025 has in store for us. In the meantime, we’ll chow down on these tunes.
