This Arkansas bill seeks to criminalize trans people and allies

As new bills in Texas seek to criminalize trans existence outright, other states are following along similar lines. An extreme new measure in Arkansas—HB1668—continues in the falsified vein of “protecting the children” by seeking to ban gender-affirming care for minors and criminalizing those who show vocal support for any trans minor seeking to transition.

1. In one of the most extreme anti-trans bills of 2025, a bill in Arkansas would make "contributing to social transitioning" of trans youth against the law. It asserts extraterritorial jurisdiction, applying to social media and more. Latest from Mira Lazine. Subscribe to support our journalism.

As reported by Mira Lazine for Erin in the Morning, the aggressive anti-trans bill seeks to “scare people into silence and deter them from providing respect, dignity, and care to LGBTQ youth,” according to the ACLU.

But the bill comes with its own failsafe: according to Lazine’s reporting, the bill includes language that makes it possible for a higher court to sign it into law even in the event of a lower court deciding against it, “allowing enforcement even during periods when the law is deemed unconstitutional.”
