Ever since folk hero Luigi Mangione took one for the team, there’s been a reassessment happening around Italian men. The phrase, “it’s-a-me, Mario,” has never had hotter implications, and as a result, we’re finding ourselves as a society much more willing to overlook some of the more toxic elements of Italian masculinity.
RelatedHello, Prince Henry!
But you know who’s never been toxic or problematic, and who remains a certified Italian Stallion even well into his sixth decade of life? That’s right: Stanley Tucci.
Culture, unfiltered
Our newsletter will bring you the pulse of queer culture, from the tastemakers to the groundbreakers.
When Tucci posted this photo to X earlier this week, it was meant as a reminder to “young people” how free and lovely it was in the days before social media, when you’d just go places and hang out and possibly not be photographed for years at a time.
But that’s not the message folks are taking from this post—mostly everyone is checking out those biceps, that mustache, and that hair.
Did Tucci mean to drive us wild? Does he not know how hot everyone finds him even at age 64? What precisely did he think this would do to us?
The people are also fondly recalling the time Tucci took center stage in a 1986 commercial for Levi’s Jeans.
At times like these, when the world feels like it’s ending and the Internet feels like more of a force for harm than good, it’s wonderful to remember that we can still use it for its intended purpose: thirsting after hot character actors.
