Trans folks are asking: what are you doing to feel somewhat okay right now?

It’s not an overstatement to say that trans people are not doing okay right now. Can you blame us? It’s awful out here. Even before Trump took office this week, we’ve been going through it. I guess when your country decides to attack you and turn you into a wedge issue, it’s not the easiest thing to cope with. But as usual, we’re doing our best to figure it out and stay safe and sane during a week that’s trying its darndest to depress us out of existence.

So what are some things we’re taking comfort from in this dark time? The answers on Reddit range from comforting snacks to looking out for others to smoking that g*nja. Remember—there is no such thing as a wrong answer here!

For one redditor, the MVP combo is “Chili cheese and mozzarella sticks,” made in air fryer. Excellent choice. For another, it’s the triumphant triad of “vengeance, tatas, and taters.”

Vengeance is traditionally best served cold, but listen, pop it in the air fryer and you never know what might happen.

“Spite, estrogen, and my wonderful friends who I love so much,” someone else wrote.

“Because my existence ticks off the government,” another user wrote. “Metal as f*ck.”

Indeed! But there was another component of feeling somewhat okay that kept coming up again, and you can probably guess what it was (ouid.) Where, truly where would we be without it?

“My 7 year old,” one user listed as a reason to keep going. “My amazing partner who has sacrificed so much to support and care for me through chronic illness, multiple emergent surgeries, and transitioning. My cat who is more precious than words. My community, which is beautiful and loving and growing.”

Absolutely. Community will always be deeply important, but right now it’s crucial.
