Trans people are protesting this hospital for complying with anti-trans policies

Last week, Erin in the Morning reported that several hospitals—including some in blue states—were already complying with Trump’s executive order making it illegal to provide life-saving gender-affirming care to individuals under 19.

NYU’s Langone Health Center, for years a proud purveyor of gender-affirming care in New York, was one of a handful of hospitals that decided to bow down to Trump’s recent executive order. Now, trans folks and allies are showing up en masse to protest Langone’s decision.

The rally took place last night a short distance away from the Langone Health Center. In response to the executive order, Attorney General Letitia James also told hospitals in the city that ceasing care for transgender minors would be against state law.

Hospitals in New York state now have a choice: defy the executive order, or run the risk of breaking state law.

Allies like Cynthia Nixon showed up last night to support their trans family members and community members.

AG James’s letter could cause the hospital to reverse its decision, but now there are other things to worry about, since Langone has also allegedly told employees to comply with ICE and abandon their undocumented patients.

More as this situation develops.
