Black trans hero Ts Madison is showing up for the girls once again. In a career defined by speaking necessary truth to the powers that be, Madison is stepping up her game even more with the opening of the Ts Madison Starter House, a place for Black trans women to safely shelter in Atlanta for up to three months.
RelatedWe’re officially ready for summer with this album
A collaboration with the Black queer Atlanta-based organization NAESM, the starter house is a deeply needed resource for women looking for support and a soft place to land in a world grown increasingly hostile to Black trans lives and futures.
“The Ts Madison Starter House is more than a shelter,” explains the project’s mission statement. “it is a transformative investment in the future of Black Trans women. We are building a model of care, economic empowerment, and long-term sustainability that ensures Black Trans people have access to safe housing, affirming healthcare, economic opportunities, and holistic support.”
