Why the internet is rushing to order Emma D’Arcy’s drink of choice again

The internet is going down memory lane when House of the Dragon star Emma D’Arcy‘s drink of choice had us all in a chokehold.

Like everyone else, we’re head over heels in love with D’Arcy. While they had appeared in the TV series Wanderlust and Truth Seekers, it was their turn as Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon that made D’Arcy an international sensation. The Game of Thrones prequel series tells the story of the mysterious dragon riders of House Targaryen and their skirmish of succession called the “Dance of the Dragons.”

And with the return of House of the Dragon during Pride Month, we’re going to D’Arcy’s Rhaenyra go toe-to-toe with former bestie Allicent Hightower (played by Olivia Cooke) and her Targaryen sons for the crown. And with the release of Team Black and Green trailers, consider us glued to our TV screens when season two premieres in June. But before we see who comes out on top between Rhaenyra’s Team Black and Allicent’s Team Green, the internet is remembering how D’Arcy made the world love Negroni Sbagliatos.

In a 2022 HBO behind-the-scenes conversation with fellow HotD co-star Cooke, the two actors promoted the new series and their drink of choice. While Cooke’s drink was a gin martini with a twist, D’Arcy flirtatiously stated that their drink of choice was a “Negroni Sbagliato, with Prosecco in it.” Then, the world shifted, producing not only an intense love affair between D’Arcy and their new fans, but an uptick of Negroni Sbagliato orders.

Now, the internet is remembering when D’Arcy shifted all of our drinks of choice to become a cocktail that’s equal parts Prosecco, Campari, and sweet vermouth.

For starters, the video solidified D’Arcy’s fandom.

But bartenders weren’t too thrilled with the demand for this drink.

Whereas those who drank D’Arcy’s favorite drink remembered how it made them lose some of their inhibitions

Mind you, Negronis are known for their alcohol-forward taste, adding Prosecco just made it bubbly. So, some people saw the drink as an acquired taste.

Others were in disbelief that D’Arcy actually liked the drink, as it wasn’t for them.

But then there are those who stand by D’Arcy and Negroni Sbagliatos.

Whether you’re a fan of Negronis or their Sbagliato cousin may be controversial, but we can all agree that we’re fans of D’Arcy. House of the Dragon returns on June 16.
