Cate Blanchett is a phenomenal actress and the resume and accolades prove it. There’s literally no genre of film that’s not been graced by her presence. Since her breakthrough role in the ’90s romantic drama Oscar and Lucinda, Blanchett has gone on to have a storied career in Hollywood.

While she’s hailed as one of the best actress of her generation, Blanchett is also a gay icon and it’s not really up for debate. Her next project, Borderlands, will have the Australian-American playing the outlaw Lilith on the hunt for a missing girl on her home planet of Pandora with a ragtag team of outcasts played by Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Hart, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu and Jack Black. Of course the gays can’t wait for Blanchett to slay at another role, but before she does, here are 5 other roles that cemented her gay icon status.

Tár

You have your queer heroes, and then you have your queen villains and Blanchett’s Lydia Tár is one for the books. Playing a world-renowned music conductor facing accusations of misconduct, Blanchett’s performance was lauded by critics and praised by the gays. While she didn’t win the Oscar that year (don’t worry she has two), she definitely won in the hearts of the queer community.

Thor: Ragnarok

There’s no badder MCU villain than Thor: Ragnarok‘s Hela. Blanchett played the antagonist in the third film of the Thor franchise, one that’s rated as the best out of the four. Chris Hemsworth may have played the titular hero, but we were all rooting for his on-screen sister, Hela.

Ocean’s 8

The stakes have never been higher in the heist film Ocean’s 8. With a star-studded ensemble cast, including Sandra Bullock, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Anne Hathaway, and even Rihanna, Blanchett stole the show and our hearts as the thief Lou Miller. Hide your jewels and hide your partner, Blanchett’s Lou might steal both.

Carol

Here’s another queer role for the iconic Blanchett. Carol saw the actress take on the titular character who starts a forbidden affair in the 1950s with an aspiring photographer played by Rooney Mara. The Todd Haynes-directed film earned Blanchett several accolades including nominations for the Golden Globe Award, the Academy Award, and an Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Award (AACTA) win for Best Actress.

Lord of the Rings trilogy

Face it, elves are queer and there is nothing queerer than Blanchett playing Galadriel in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Donning all white and plenty of magical power, Blanchett’s Galadriel was truly a standout in the series. We swear our allegiance to this elf queen.
