Only Ryan Gosling could get the Oscar crowd to its feet, but we’re not sure why the internet is surprised by this, when this video proves “Ken” has always been a performer.

Last night’s star-studded Academy Awards took place in Los Angeles’ Dolby Theater and while we all watched to see who would take home the coveted Oscar, all eyes were on two-time nominee Gosling. The Barbie star took to the stage to perform his breakout hit “I’m Just Ken,” with Barbie album producer, Mark Ronson, by his side. Dressed in a dazzling hot pink suit and a pair of shades, Gosling channeled enough “Kenergy” to power a room full of Kens and that’s exactly what happened. While Gosling belted out the number, while fellow Barbie stars Ncuti Gatwa, Simu Liu, Scott Evans, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and several other Kens danced the night away in perfect formation.

Gosling didn’t take home the trophy (thanks to Oppenheimer’s Robert Downey Jr.), but he did leave with everyone’s admiration. Gosling even got Barbie stars Margot Robbie, America Ferrera, and the film’s director, Greta Gerwig, to join in on the performance. Also, who else can sing along with Guns N’ Roses’ famed guitarist Slash? Ken can!

Interestingly, some Gosling fans seemed to forget that, before Barbie, before LaLa Land, Gosling cut his teeth performing with the Mickey Mouse Club. That’s right, our world’s Ken was a child star singing with heavy hitters, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez of NSYNC. And we’re not talking about Kids Bop covers, because they had a young Gosling singing deep ’90s R&B deep cuts.

Barbie took over pop culture last year with its vivid marketing campaign, electric film, and stylish award season looks (thanks lead Robbie). While many raved about the movie, the soundtrack received plenty of love as well and Barbie‘s “I’m Just Ken,” Barbie’s boyfriend’s breakout song, wowed critics and fans alike enough for Gosling and the song to receive Oscar noms. A consummate performer on the silver screen, Gosling has the vocal chops and charisma to turn “I’m Just Ken” into a full-out spectacle and the internet loved every minute of it.

We’re all still feeling the Kenergy.
