Just in time for the holidays, Barbie’s leading man, Ken (Ryan Gosling), is entering his Christmas era.
Barbie: The Album is getting a festive addition to its roster. On Tuesday, its X account posted a video that’s pure “Kristmas Kenergy” to announce an upcoming holiday version of “I’m Just Ken.”

The Barbie marketing campaign has been superb from start to finish and has tapped into an oft-neglected element of film promotion: the soundtrack.
Entertainment with an edge
Whether you’re into indie comics, groundbreaking music, or queer cinema, we’re here to keep you in the loop twice a week.
In the video, Ken and Mark Ronson (super producer and Barbie: The Album architect) are in the studio playing with Ken’s vocals on one of the film’s standout tracks “I’m Just Ken.” The holiday lights glow while the two battle with the studio equipment, lowering and raising Ken’s vocals until Ronson throws in the towel to let Ken “handle this.”
It’s hard to combat all of that Kenergy, but thankfully it’ll be channeled into this early Christmas present.
And while we’re Mariah Carey’s favorite time of the year, Barbie (and Ken’s influence) has been felt since this summer. When Barbie launched in July, critics raved, fans fawned, and with the accompanying soundtrack, we all got a few bops from the experience too.
Aside from lauding Gosling and Margot Robbie’s performances as two of the most famous dolls out there, the soundtrack has snagged a few accolades too. Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night,” Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s “Barbie World,” Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For,” and “I’m Just Ken,” all received 2024 Grammy nominations, as did the overall album.
Now, the holidays are getting more Kenergy, as Ken continues to show that he and his theme song are a ten.
The holiday version of “I’m Just Ken” drops on December 20.
