It’s been almost four months since Chappell Roan debuted her next single during a live performance, and now fans are closer than ever to getting the full studio version. From what we’ve heard, the country-twangy track already has the makings of a sapphic bop.

Roan first performed “The Giver,” her latest single, on her Nov 2 Saturday Night Live performance. On Sunday, Roan followed up that casual reveal with a cryptic teaser.
Entertainment with an edge

A post on Roan’s Instagram story invited followers to call the number (629) 468-8646 (spelling out “Hot To Go”). Upon dialing, an automated voice menu directed callers to dentist, attorney, plumber or construction services. Those fans who weren’t fooled got to hear clips of the song hidden behind each of the corresponding numbers.
Although each clip lasted under ten seconds, the lyrics gave sapphic excellence. “All you country boys think you know how to treat a woman right,” Roan sings. “Well, only a woman knows how to treat a woman right. She gets the job done.”

On Tuesday, Roan announced an official vinyl drop for “The Giver.” The 7” “Lawyer Edition” vinyl shows the midwest princess suited up in her best attorney attire and sporting slicked back hair.
“ur ex’s worst nightmare + she gets the job DONE,” Roan captioned the post.
While the pre-orders for the vinyl have already sold out, fans can opt-in to be notified for when the item is back in stock. The vinyl includes both “The Giver” and a demo version of “Fix It In The Morning.” Orders ship on August 18.
“The Giver” represents Roan’s first new single since her acclaimed 2023 debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. Her next record has yet to be officially announced, but as of last fall, Roan and her producer Dan Nigo told the New York Times they were already five songs into the album.
These included “fun, up-tempo country song,” a “couple of ballads” and a “mid-tempo rock song.” Now at least, we know which one the country song is.
