“Pink Pony Club” is an undeniable queer anthem. Arguably Chappell Roan’s most iconic song, the ode to gay nightlife was her first major hit, and five years after its release, we’re all still singing about how we’re gonna keep on dancing down in West Hollywood. This year, Roan brought the song to the Grammy Awards, bringing the house down with a rodeo clown-inspired rendition of “Pink Pony Club” shortly before winning Best New Artist.
Naturally, then, the next step in “Pink Pony Club”’s lore was to get a remix from The Chainsmokers. We were all clamoring for it, right? … No? Huh. Well, it exists anyway!
On Wednesday, the electronic pop duo posted an image of a pink box of matches reading “Pink Pony Club,” which they captioned “Tomorrow” and tagged Roan on social media. The internet immediately started scratching its collective head: Why would The Chainsmokers, largely regarded as an incredibly straight music act, be putting out their own version of such a gay song?

It does seem a bit strange that The Chainsmokers felt the need to put their stamp on a queer anthem about the beauty of gay nightlife. Then again, the duo did reveal in 2023 that they’ve had threesomes together. A few months after that, they had a viral photoshoot straddling one another while shirtless, Calvin Klein underwear on full display. Maybe they’re not as strictly hetero as their music and aesthetic would have us believe.
Regardless, their “Pink Pony Club” remix is now streaming on SoundCloud. Is it an improvement on the original? No, not even close. But does it provide an exciting new take on the iconic song? Um … we’ll leave that up to the listeners. You can check out the remix for yourself below.
