What if “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” was a lesbian love story? Singer-songwriter Lydia von Hof has the answer.
Von Hof’s latest single, “On My Way There,” imagines the devil as a seductive lover named Lucy Furrows, all set to a pulsing country rock beat. The track went viral on TikTok, where von Hof tied it to another recent country hit: Chappell Roan’s “The Giver.”
“I heard we were bringing back gay country music?” she wrote in a video showcasing the song, adding the hashtag #chappellroan and the caption, “what a time to be alive 👩❤️💋👩💘🤩.”
Von Hof’s video has garnered 76,000 likes and more than 300,000 views, and with an opening line as iconic as, “Made the trip down to ol’ Sin City, went to meet the devil ‘cause I heard she was pretty, it’s clear to see why.

In von Hof’s comments section, country fans and haters alike raved over the single. “Incredible, Ive always loved country music but everyone who was singing it was racist and homophobic so I’m glad it’s getting it’s justice now ahha,” one commenter wrote.
“As a lesbian from Tennessee, I’ve never really liked country music,” shared another. “I think this changed me 👀.”
