JoJo Siwa drops her new, queer-explicit video and everyone has questions

After several weeks of teasing her new era, JoJo Siwa dropped her brand new single, “Karma”, today The accompanying, eye-catching video makes it clear that the JoJo of old is gone.

Siwa shot to fame on the shows Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition and Dance Moms in the mid-2010s. She then became a huge YouTube star and began to release music, leading to big concert tours across the US.

She came out as queer in 2021.

Siwa’s last single was “Nonstop” in 2020. “Karma” marks a major change in her image. She’s been appearing in public in Kiss-inspired make-up and catsuits. The song itself is not dissimilar to something P!nk might come up with. The video makes it clear that Siwa is queer and has been cheating on her girlfriend.

“Karma’s a b*tch, and she’s with you right now,” sings Siwa. The video features choreographed dancing on a superyacht before Siwa falls into the ocean and re-emerges on a moonlit desert island. She then engages in some uninhibited same-sex … well, humping.

The video has prompted tens of thousands of comments in less than 12 hours.

Some people were clearly shocked by Siwa’s shift in direction and some seemed unaware Siwa was now out.

“Plz why was the aquatic amphibian humping lava girl?!!!????” was a comment that earned more than 11k likes.

“Why did her humps come back like a boomerang?” a reference to Siwa’s earlier hit single, “Boomerang”, prompted 14k likes.

“Why did she hump Spongebob’s Island?” asked another.

“Did I just watch something illegal?” asked someone else.

However, the video has also earned praise.

(Actually, we’re not sure if that last tweet was being sarcastic — who doesn’t want Rihanna to release a new album?).

Others suggested the song is decent but they’re unsure of JoJo’s version and video. An acoustic cover by a woman named Brooke Butler has gone viral and had over 7 million views on TikTok over the last couple of days.

Yesterday we reported on another Siwa-related tweet that went viral a couple of days ago. Accompanying a clip of Siwa singing the song, a woman commented, “This how I looked and acted after my first lesbian heartbreak too just give her time.”
