Lil Nas X has dropped not one but two new tracks in the last couple of weeks: the brilliant “Light Again” and “Need Dat Boy”. To help promote them he’s been blitzing social media. He recently sang “Need Dat Boy” for On The Radar Radio.
The performance divided opinion. Unsurprisingly, many Lil Nas X fans loved it. Unfortunately, going by the comments on Facebook, many On The Radar listeners hated it, with some blasting it for its explicit queer content. Lil Nas X begins with a heartfelt rap about his position in the music industry and discovering that he has fake friends…. Before singing how he “needs dat boy”.
It then pivots to him singing about wanting to ride the boy.
For anyone familiar with Lil Nas X, the nature of the lyrics is not surprising. After all, this is the man who gave us the ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” and “What I Want” songs and visuals.

However, others were quick to blast him for being so unapologetically gay.
“Like what you’re going to like now”
Lil Nas X returned to Instagram yesterday to blast those who criticized him for being his authentic self and expressing himself through his art.
“I don’t give a f**k,” he said, of those slamming him. “You’re a pussy a n**** … and you’re scared what all these other n****s think.
“I want you all to know something. When we leave this planet, when we’re gone, all these people’s thoughts and opinions you give a f*ck about, and I’m talking about everybody: Your family, your friends, all the n****s around you, they not going with you. You’re going by yourself.
“Like what you’re going to like now. Do what you want to do now. Because once you’re gone, you can’t do that sh*t no more.”

Lil Nas X’s words struck a chord with many of his fans.
“This my pastor,” said one.
“Amennn love the tracks bro,” said another.
“Light Again” is produced by French musician and producer Thomas Bangalter, formerly one-half of Daft Punk. It and “Need Dat Boy” are expected to feature on Lil Nas X’s second album, Dreamboy, which he has assured fans will be out soon.
