Bars for Barbz

Lil Nas X remixes Nicki Minaj’s “FTCU” in true Barb fashion

Most Lil Nas X fans know that the rapper is a Barb through and through. So this remix of a new Nicki Minaj song shouldn’t come as a surprise.

The “Montero” singer has been dropping breadcrumbs of new music here and there on the internet. After “shocking” the masses with his Christian era music tease, the “Montero” singer continued to show off his musical versatility with a remix that would make any Barb proud.

On Friday, Lil Nas X dropped a video of him in the studio mouthing the lyrics to his remix of Nicki Minaj’s song “FTCU.” The track is one of the latest from Nicki’s Pink Friday 2 album and has already made its rounds through the internet.

Now, Lil Nas X got his hands on it and his verse is definitely Barb-worthy.

Over the Waka Flocka Flame sample, the 24-year-old starts off rapping about having a big chain and a sizable member to match, with a Jack Harlow innuendo that would make his “Industry Baby” collaborator blush. Lil Nas X the lyricist follows up with several Doja Cat song references that show off his lyrical ability before proclaiming that Nicki Minaj is his “mama.”

Fans are saying “hello” to Nas Maraj and loving the remix.

Fans have been patiently waiting for Lil Nas X to drop new music. Before his “FTCU” remix, he also previewed a collaboration with fellow queer rapper Saucy Santana called “Down Souf Hoes.”

Lil Nas X also held an impromptu Q&A over X (formerly Twitter) in February 2023 disclosing that his album was expected to come out summer of 2023. Sadly, that deadline has passed, but maybe there’s hope for new Lil Nas X tracks in 2024.
