Chappell Roan is one of three pop icons to feature in a new, special edition of Carpool Karaoke.
A Carpool Karaoke Christmas features Roan, Dua Lipa and Lady Gaga. Each star gets a ride with host Zane Lowe in a different location and sings some of their best-loved hits. It’s now streaming on Apple+ TV and Apple Music.
Entertainment with an edge

Lowe heads to Tokyo, Los Angeles and—for Roan—Missouri. One of the highlights of the “Good Luck, Babe” singer’s segment of the show is having her parents, Kara and Dwight, in the back of the car.
At one stage, they all sing along to Roan’s hit, “Pink Pony Club”. The song is about a woman escaping her childhood town and finding her own tribe in a queer club in California. Roan has said she was inspired to write it after seeing go-go dancers perform at the The Abbey in West Hollywood.
“Won’t make my mama proud, it’s gonna cause a scene,” sings Roan.
“She sees her baby girl, I know she’s gonna scream,“
“God, what have you done?“
“You’re a pink pony girl,“
“And you dance at the club.“
As they all sing, Roan’s parents hold hands. Afterward, Lowe asks them how they feel about the song.
“I started to tear up just listening to her sing it just now. We love her so much and we’re so proud of what she does and who she is and what she stands for that that song. I love singing it with her at her shows,” Kara said. “You can just see the people just respond to that song so much.”

“What she stands for is a lot of hope”
Roan’s dad also becomes emotional and wipes tears from his eyes.
“What she stands for is a lot of hope,” he says. “But what she has taught me as a father is respect for other people, and all people. And that’s what I want people to understand. Everything that is about her is about loving everybody. And she has taught me that.”
“We could never not be proud of her, honestly,” her mom adds.
New Gaga track
This is the first time any of the three singers have appeared on Carpool Karaoke. The show originated on The James Corden Show before migrating to Apple+ for its final, fifth season in 2023.
Besides singing their best-known hits, Lady Gaga debuted a bonus version of “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town”, which dropped simultaneously to Apple Music and other platforms.
