Prime Target is a new action-packed miniseries coming to Apple TV+. It also happens to be very, very gay.
That’s thanks in part to a storyline for its lead character Edward, played by Leo Woodall (who fans might recognize as the guy who infamously “f*cked his uncle” on Season 2 of The White Lotus). Edward is a brilliant mathematician, who gets the government’s attention when he gets close to discovering the key to hacking every computer in the world.
Besides his mathematical genius and newfound enemies, Edward is in a relationship with a man named Adam, played by Lost Boys and Fairies star Fra Fee — a fact that Woodall’s fans across the internet are especially excited about.
Entertainment with an edge
Whether you’re into indie comics, groundbreaking music, or queer cinema, we’re here to keep you in the loop.
Though very little of the two as a couple has been seen yet in the show’s promo materials, one short clip showing off their chemistry already has one fan hailing Edward and Adam as “the best ship of all time.”
Prime Target also stars nonbinary actor Quintessa Swindell as Taylah Sanders, a national security agent who teams up with Edward. In a recent interview with Queerly, Woodall and Swindell opened up about what drew them to the show’s queer roles.
“For me, I’d never taken on a role like Ed,” Woodall said. “I’d previously played guys who were very outgoing and sociable and get into mischief and enjoy a bit of mischief and are very good with people, and Ed is none of those things.”
“He’s not good with people, he doesn’t like people, he doesn’t like going out, he hates any sense of mischief,” he continued. “He breaks some rules, don’t get me wrong, but it was, for me, it was a new territory and I was very interested in exploring that.”

Swindell also spoke to the complexity of Woodall’s character: “As far as the queer representation in this series, I love how Leo’s character is represented, because it’s not something that’s very obvious,” they said.
“It’s just a byproduct of who he naturally is, and doesn’t need to be discussed,” they continued. “Rather, it’s more a question of who he’s decided to open his life to, which I really respected and I thought was something I wanted to be a part of, when looking at the broad scope of the series.”
