This bi Love Is Blind star opened up about feeling “gay panic” over a fellow contestant

Love Is Blind may seem like one of the straightest reality dating shows out there, but according to its contestants, plenty of queerness was present behind the scenes — even if it didn’t make the final cut of the Netflix series.

That includes the most recent Minneapolis-set season, which contestant Madison Errichiello recently revealed had more queer participants than meets the eye, including herself. In fact, Errichiello recognized a fellow hopeful dater from the dating apps back home.

On a recent episode of the podcast Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe, Errichiello shared the full story, which is all too familiar for any gays who’ve frequented the apps.

“So actually, I knew one of the girls,” Errichiello’s story began. “She didn’t get a lot of screentime. She was there for like a day and she left, and I mean, good for her because you know, she was so unimpressed. But it’s so funny because actually, I show up at the airport and we’re all kind of meeting each other for the first time. And I was like, I matched with that girl on Hinge like a year ago.”

“At first I was just kind of nervous, like the gay panic set in, and I was like ‘Ahh,’” she continued. “I was like ‘Oh my god, do I say something? Do I not?’ And I just ended up saying something, because I also didn’t know how comfortable she was, so I didn’t want to say anything on camera either.”

“I just said something I think the next day at breakfast,” Errichiello explained. “I was like ‘Hey, we matched on Hinge, right?’ and she was like ‘Oh my god, yeah! That’s where I know you from.’”

The Hinge match in question was Casandra Barron, who told the same story in an interview on MPR News. Apparently, she and Errichiello never explored their romantic potential, instead becoming good friends.

“Her name is Casandra, and she’s one of my besties now. It’s so funny because I remember being like ‘Hey, if this doesn’t work out…’” Errichiello said. “But no, we’re just besties because she kind of had a thing, like, she was on and off with this one guy, so I think when she got to the pods, she was like ‘Oh, like I miss him.’”

Could Errichiello and Barron’s missed connection help open the door to a queer season of Love Is Blind in the future? On Netflix alone, the queer version of The Ultimatum proved that the gays deliver reality dating excellence, and last year’s The Boyfriend was a massive hit. It’s past due that Netflix’s biggest dating hit gets a gay update — fingers crossed!
