North Carolina’s rabidly anti-trans Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson raised eyebrows when he logged into an online meeting last week.
Robinson became the state’s Lt. Gov in 2021. He quickly made a name for himself for his blasting of LGBTQ+ rights. This included comments about trans women in women’s bathrooms. He told them they should instead “find a corner outside.”
Robinson announced he was quitting as Lt. Gov last year to run to replace Democratic Governor Roy Cooper. However, Robinson lost to Democratic candidate, Attorney General Josh Stein last month. He is now serving out his final few weeks as Lt. Gov.
Despite being endorsed by Trump, Robinson’s campaign fell apart following a bombshell report by CNN. It claimed that back in 2012, Robinson posted messages on an adult entertainment forum under the username ‘minisoldr’. It said the name had links to Robinson’s email address. The user referred to himself as a “Black Nazi”, said that slavery had some benefits, and talked graphically about their sexual experiences and the adult movies they enjoyed watching, including those with trans women.

Robinson has denied he made the comments. In October, he launched a $50 million defamation lawsuit against CNN.
Given this, when Robinson logged into a Google Meet last week, other users were surprised to see his screen name: “minisoldr”.
“Glad he’s on his way out”
Someone who participated in last week’s meeting sent screenshots to The Assembly. It reprinted them and said although Robinson did not turn his camera on, his voice could be heard. It did not post a screen recording of the meeting in ordero to protect the person who sent it to them.
LOL – apparently @markrobinsonNC is still using "minisoldr" as his screen name on Google Meet.

State Senator Gladys Robinson (D) was also in the meeting. She said she had not noticed Robinson’s screen name when he logged in to the meeting. However, she laughed when The Assembly brought it to her attention, telling the outlet, “He didn’t stay long in the meeting. I’m just glad he’s on his way out.”
INTO has contacted Robinson’s office for comment and will update this story if he responds.
