After announcing that Meta will no longer be protecting LGBTQ+ individuals from hate speech on the platform, Mark Zuckerberg is continuing to strip any signs of gay or trans support in the form of deleted messenger themes.
Per 404 Media, previous chat theme options that allowed users to text against a background of trans flag colors or nonbinary flag colors have been removed as of this week. This move comes fast on the heels of a guidance stating that individuals on the platform can call trans and queer people mentally ill because of their orientation and identity without it counting as hate speech.

Another round of examples for speech that does not qualify as violating Meta’s new terms caused jaws to drop yesterday as we saw just how fully the platform is committing to anti-LGBTQ+ talking points and false science. These examples included the phrases: “Trans people aren’t real. They’re mentally ill,” “Gays are not normal,” and “Women are crazy.”

On top of everything else, the anti-trans slur “tr*nny” is also fine to use on the platform and does not violate Meta’s hate speech guidance.
